My name is Henrique Galvan Debarba, and I am a senior researcher at the Artanim Foundation in Switzerland.
I hold a PhD degree in Robotics, Control and Intelligent Systems from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. My thesis research was developed in the Immersive Interaction Group and the Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience, and it concerns the perceptual experience and bounds between user and avatar in immersive Virtual Reality, more specifically, how to take advantage of the malleability of virtual environments and address its lack of tactile feedback in Embodied Interaction.
I also hold a Master degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. During my master I have worked with Human-Computer Interaction, using mobile devices (e.g. smartphones) to interact with virtual objects seen in Tiled Displays and in immersive Virtual Reality in the the Graphics, Visualization and Interaction Lab. I have also worked on medical data visualization using Augmented Reality during this period. Previous to that I took part on a three years bachelor internship under Dr. Diana Domingues supervision, collaborating in the development of Immersive Art Installations.
